    • Border Trade Alliance: One of only four U.S. mayors invited to provide the perspective of cities along the U.S.-Mexico border to Secretary of Homeland Security Janet Napolitano and key Congressional leaders.

    • Imperial County Board of Supervisors:

    • Appointed by California Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger in 2009 to represent District 1.

    • Elected Chairman of the Board of Supervisors (Feb 2010 - Jan 2011).

    • US-Mexico Border Counties Coalition: Elected President in November 2010.

    • Elected to the Air Conditioning Contractors of America Board of Directors (ACCA) for 3 terms (2016-2022)

Putting My Experience
to Work

He was elected to the Calexico City Council in 2006, elected Mayor from 2008-2009, championing cross-border economic collaboration. In 2009, he co-hosted a White House Health Care Forum.

 

Appointed to the Imperial County Board of Supervisors by Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger in 2009, elected Chairman in 2010, furthering initiatives that enhanced local economic and infrastructure development.

Louis’s tenure includes leadership roles as Chairman of the US-Mexico Border Counties Coalition and Chairman of the California Energy’s Task Force, addressing contractor barriers, permitting reform to boost construction.

Louis Fuentes, a proven leader in economic development and job creation, has dedicated his career to fostering growth along the California-Mexico border. He is the Chief Cooling Guy at Air Conditioning Guys and has served 3 terms (2016-2022) on the Board of Directors for the Air Conditioning Contractors of America (ACCA).

Louis holds a degree from UC Berkeley in Development Studies with a concentration in Economics. He has directly contributed to job creation, strengthened regional economies, and improved communities’ quality of life.

Louis has represented California's border economic perspective at government hearings gaining national and international recognition for his contributions.

District 1

In general, District 1 includes the cities of Chula Vista, Imperial Beach and National City, portions of the City of San Diego, and unincorporated areas including the communities of Bonita and La Presa, Spring Valley, Sweetwater and Otay Mesa.
