San Diego, CA – [11-30-2025] – Today, Louis Fuentes, a distinguished leader in economic development and job creation, officially announced his candidacy for the San Diego County Board of Supervisors. A Calexico native and proven advocate for border-region economic prosperity, Fuentes brings decades of experience fostering growth, driving infrastructure development, and championing policies that strengthen local communities.
“As a lifelong advocate for economic development and regional progress, I am excited to bring my leadership and experience to the people of San Diego County,” said Fuentes. “This campaign is about fostering opportunity, breaking down barriers to success, and ensuring our region thrives.”
Fuentes, who holds a degree in Development Studies with a concentration in Economics from UC Berkeley, has a long track record of public service and business leadership. His career spans roles in the private and public sectors, including his tenure as Chief Cooling Guy at Air Conditioning Guys and serving three terms (2016-2022) on the Board of Directors for the Air Conditioning Contractors of America (ACCA). He has played a pivotal role in job creation, workforce development, and advocating for smart economic policies along the California-Mexico border.
Fuentes’ political career began with his election to the Calexico City Council in 2006, where he was elected Mayor from 2008-2009, successfully championing cross-border economic collaboration. In 2009, he co-hosted a White House Health Care Forum, underscoring his ability to bring critical issues to the national stage. That same year, Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger appointed him to the Imperial County Board of Supervisors, where he was later elected Chairman in 2010, spearheading initiatives that enhanced local economic and infrastructure development.
A recognized voice in border-region policymaking, Fuentes has represented California’s economic interests at government hearings, gaining national and international recognition for his contributions. His leadership extended to roles as Chairman of the U.S.-Mexico Border Counties Coalition and Chairman of California Energy’s Task Force, where he worked to address contractor barriers and streamline permitting processes to boost construction and infrastructure projects.
Beyond his professional achievements, Fuentes is a dedicated father of three, has been married for 25 years to a wonderful wife and an accomplished martial artist, holding a black belt in Aikido, Karate, and Jujitsu. Now residing in Chula Vista, he remains driven by a commitment to progress and opportunity for all.
“As Supervisor, I will prioritize economic growth, infrastructure development, and policies that create jobs and enhance our communities’ quality of life,” Fuentes affirmed. “Together, we can build a future where everyone in San Diego County's District 1 has the chance to succeed.”
